Kode9 and Daito Manabe to perform audiovisual live show at the opening party of DIG SHIBUYA, a new event offering the latest culture that combines technology and art, co-hosted by Shibuya Ward

The opening party of DIG SHIBUYA*, a new technology and art event co-hosted by Shibuya Ward where you can experience the latest culture, will take place at MIDNIGHT EAST, a collaborative night venue by Shibuya's largest live music venue Spotify O-EAST and DJ bar Azumaya, on Friday 12 January 2024.

The headliner of the opening night will be Scottish artist Kode9, one of the pioneers of dubstep and the founder of Hyperdub label. He will perform an audio-visual live set from his 2022 album “Escapology”. Kode9 will be joined by Daito Manabe, who established Rhizomatiks in 2006 and has been a key figure in media art in Japan since then, and a collaborative performance by Tokyo-based techno DJ MAYUDEPTH and media artist JACKSON kaki. Kaitai Shinsho's Romy Mats will also be on the decks.

In Azumaya, Rainbow Disco Club’s resident DJ and the designer of creative collective REALROCKDESIGN, Kikiorix, and a sound artist Yuu Udagawa, who creates spatial sound user experiences. The lineup also includes DJ/photographer YMASA from the drum'n'bass night 06S, and DDHOTD who organises his own party paranormal.

DIG SHIBUYA 2024 will take place for three days from 12th Friday  to 14th Sunday of January 2024, as an event where visitors can experience the latest culture that combines technology and art. In light of the recent attention paid to tech companies and start-ups in Japan and abroad, we develop programmes to make art involving the latest technology more accessible to people who live in or visit to Shibuya. Also there will be a programme that allows visitors to tour around the commercial facilities and shops in Shibuya in conjunction with digital art.
